Optimizing data acquisition for active drilling programs
Borehole Campaign Services - No downtime means more data at lower costs
Abitibi Geophysics offers a flexible suite of borehole geophysical services for exploration teams operating in active drilling environments, including borehole IP, EM, gravity and televiewer, as well as cross-hole IP and EM. Our Borehole Campaign Services integrate directly with drilling operations to extract more value from every meter drilled.
Our approach focuses on productivity, reduced standby time, and improved drill-target accuracy. All services are designed for rapid deployment, small field crews, and efficient on-site decision-making.
Let’s design a borehole campaign that works with your drill program, not around it.
Borehole-first, ground surveying if drilling pauses:
Borehole surveying is the core of the program. Ground surveys are not a separate add-on, but a productivity tool used strategically to eliminate downtime. When drilling pauses or access is temporarily unavailable, the same crew and equipment are redeployed to acquire Ground over drill collars or priority lines.
This workflow refines conductor geometry by integrating downhole and surface responses where relevant, while converting idle time into useful geophysical acquisition.
Standby reduction offering:
- One crew with dual capabilities
- Instant Ground Surveying during drill pauses for productive geophysics
BHEM & Ground EM
- Set-up: Use existing BHEM loop or quick surface loop deployment
- Crew & logistics: 2-person team, no line cutting, GPS-integrated layout
- Ideal when: Limited or legacy geophysical data over the property
- Provides insight into: Expanding coverage, testing new zones, and extending depth or lateral limits of existing surveys
BHEM & BHIP
- Set-up: Downhole electrodes installed in selected drillholes
- Crew & logistics: 2–3-person team for electrode prep and acquisition
- Ideal when: Sulphide style is disseminated, subtle, or not EM-dominant , and when mapping the disseminated halo surrounding a massive sulphide (EM target) is important.
- Provides insight into: Chargeability responses in tested holes (not dummies); proper preparation, a full-depth BHIP acquisition (up to 2 km) can be completed in one day
BHEM & Historical Boreholes
- Set-up: Surface EM over historical drilling zones with rapid BHEM follow-up
- Crew & logistics: Same crew and equipment for surface and downhole work
- Ideal when: Legacy drilling exists but geophysics was limited or outdated
- Provides insight into: Re-evaluating old holes with modern EM and aligning geology-driven targets with new geophysical vectors
BH Gravity & BHEM
- Set-up: BHGM logging with follow-up BHEM where density or EM contrast is expected
- Crew & logistics: Specialized crew and precision borehole deployment
- Ideal when: Off-hole mass needs to be located, EM conductors are ambiguous, or when determining whether BHEM conductors have associated mass can refine target prioritization
- Provides insight into: Separating thin/graphitic conductors from massive sulphides, estimating tonnage, and measuring bulk density around drillholes
