Blackbird / McFaulds Lake

Canada
Interpretation of regional geophysics can help find a new mining district

The McFaulds Lake stratiform Cr-Ni-Cu-PGE deposit is hosted in a layered mafic-ultramafic intrusion.

A regional aeromagnetic survey revealed a linear magnetic high that was not associated with any known deposits. A time-domain electromagnetic survey was flown and anomalies followed up with ground geophysics.

Follow up drilling resulted in the discovery of multiple Cr-Ni-Cu-PGE lenses.

A detailed gravity survey was conducted to explore the flanks of this newly discovered intrusion.

A 0.5 mGal gravimetric Bouguer anomaly was detected and investigated by drilling.
