A regional gravimetric survey detected one of the largest hidden ore bodies in the word.

Olympic Dam is a polymetallic ore body located 300 metres below surface. It is the fourth largest copper deposit, fifth largest gold deposit and the largest uranium deposit in the world. It also contains significant quantities of silver and REEs. |

A 7X7 km regional gravity survey was conducted. Numerical modeling yielded a 17 mGal gravimetric anomaly associated with known positive magnetic anomaly. Three additional anomalies of 22 mGal, 6 mGal and 2 mGal were also revealed. The source of the anomalous responses was found to be dense iron oxide (hematite) associated with this polymetallic deposit. |
